    Dear friend,

All these are relative calculations. Who the hell in the world asked any firm to calculate the millionaries in terms of dollars. You have to check PPP. What a dollar could do in US could not do anything in Europe/UK. But you can get to eat three times in India for a dollar. You can do two haircuts for a dollar and more...

With the above, India has many millionaries. Also if rupee strengthens and dollar weakens( which is not likely now), India will have billion millionaires.

Who said that 1 crore is middle class in India ???

That would mean 1 billion poor people in india according to this article, and that will include you...

    Indias millionaires on the rise
Indias millionaire population in 2005 shot up by 19.3 per cent over the past year, second only to South Koreas 21.3 per cent on world charts. The World Wealth Report, released by Merrill Lynch and Capgemini, says India had 83,000 millionaires (people with more than $1 million or Rs 4.5 crore in net financial assets, excluding their residence and consumables).
The rate at which India is producing rich people is hardly surprising, says the report. It goes on: "Also according to the most recent Goldman Sachs projections, India has the potential to become the fourth largest economy by 2025 and the third largest by 2050, behind only the United States and China."
Worldwide, the number of millionaires swelled by half a million in 2005 and there were 8.7 million of them, more than New York's population.
On the top of the charts is the US with a millionaire population of 2.67 million, nearly a third of the global millionaire population. Germany, the UK, China, Canada, Australia, Brazil, and Russia, among others, each have more than 100,000 millionaires

    Srikondo man,

I dont care your fight with 'buddyinus' or your friendship with 'frankzulu' and whether you were travelling by air/car/ship - I would like to ask you a SIMPLE question.

You started this thread saying that USCIS has a "deadline" for completing stuffs last Monday or last last Friday.... All of us trusted you that time - Could you please give us a responsible answer or status Update.

I hope you will reply this time.

    Thanks,
    Hello,

I think this is high time for us to control our emotions and live with realities. Often times, the customer service representatives don't have up-to-date information of USCIS's policies, decisions, and announcements, and we should not take their response as granted. For example, If you call a service center 5 times a day and ask a same question, you will get five different answers. In fact, Srikondoji mentioned what he had heard from NSC customer service staff. So, we can't blame either Srikondoji or customer service staff, but only USCIS.:)

    Regards,
    IK

Hopefully, they can repeat the same madness again and do it for good this time around.

Looking at , it seems that latest approvals really come from ROW and Philippines for EB2 and EB3.

So ROW and Philippines filers, hang-on!

So maybe the H-1B provision killed it??
    .

    Thats what I think.

Any amendments that contain provisions to increase H1b quota will have very tough time to get through.

    1. The days of an immigrant waiting to buy a house until he gets his GC have gone. These days H1Bs r buying homes left and right. More than settling, they look at it as a business prospect. I know atleast 5 guys who r still waiting in the wings who've bought homes. Look, u know u r gonna wait until GC and u know u will get ur GC...so why not buy a house? There may be a few who'd be pessimistic about their GC applications and wud think twice b4 making a huge investment and AFAIK, that percentage is very less.

LOL, there is another thread buying a house when 485 processing is pending. Post the above over there and you will see that you would have stirred a hornets nest. People will jump on you.

    RNGC,
Personally I think US is not losing as much as it is gaining by not giving us GC, but I appreciate your efforts. We are the real losers here.

    I am july 2nd filer!!!!!

I spoke to NSC today and they told me that he told me that you need to wait 45 days. OR your check is cashed, there is no way they can check tes system and find out the status for you.

I am glad it will be done this week end!!!!

    KP

I have talked to a representative and he very patiently explained me about the mess.
He clearly and very clearly told me that they have a deadline to send all receipts for June end and July 2nd filers by friday (tomorrow) or worst case monday.

He mentioned that they are working hard to meet this deadline.
    Hope this clears the anxiety.

This is true for NSC only.

    [QUOTE=jamesbond007;286854]
local business people who have a lot of black money. All of them together are keeping up the prices.

The current middle class seems to realize that trying to save money in a bank in order to buy something is foolish since the paper money is losing its value over time. So they are either investing; or making purchases with borrowed money as long as they can make the EMI payments. Overall, the current middle class is not backing out of buying what they need for lack of money. (This trend will probably lead India in the same path as the US i.e. huge debt for everyone)[\QUOTE]

I agree with your points. Just adding few comments.
Huge debt for everyone? This is going to be the biggest problem because in US, we have a foundation for debt based economy (SSN, credit history, Credit score, credit ratings etc.) If you default the payment, you will have an effect and there will be an impact on future credit applications. There is nothing of this sort in India and the politicians will not allow such things to be setup as well. So essentially back to my point. Banks who lend money are at bigger risk of loosing it. There is nothing that they can do to report on consumer's default or fraud for that matter.

Now per say consumer dump the property or bank attaches it for non payment of loan amount, Bank will be stuck with properties worth 1/4th for those crores that they loaned to people, maintenance will cost them more to prepare it for sale.

In any account, there is a big problem ahead there.

But I think franklin posted earlier that she got her GC when the priority dates are not current. And shows about 5 EB3s from India got approvals during September whos PDs are on or after 2003.Do you think USCIS might have requested the visa number for their cases when their PD was current?

They can do "wild" approvals, however, they have to do it as per September visa bulletin. IF they dont have enough approvable 485s that are as per the Sept visa bulletin and if the approvable "ready to go" cases are past the priority dates of September bulletin, then they will be sitting unapproved as they CANT do any kind of "wild" approval.

Keeping all dates current in Sept (like july, but intentionally this time around) could have made is easier on USCIS to have more choice and easily find "ready to go" cases to assign and consume all visa numbers.

One way to increase participation is to involve the Indian student associations of the various universities of the area. They are usually pretty well organized and members are usually willing to support such causes. Also support from ISA's from top notch schools goes a long way to show the legal immigrant population as a highly educated bunch.

If one can handle stress, anxiety and trauma while waiting for GC, then its worth waiting. If not, people like me start looking at options. I applied for Canadian PR in 2008 and just did CDN landing last week which gave my family feel of "cold weather".
I will be completing my 5 years stay in USA this spring. Same story here - I never visited my home country since there is a lot of uncertainty around getting back.

We are 100% sure that we don't want to continue living in USA. Now its matter of time, until summer 2010, that we move on. Just not sure yet - whether it is my home country or Canada. If I get a job back home in India, I would love to do that. From what I have heard from friends, and from recruiters response, in home country, I think economy is picking up. I hope to get some decent job offer based on my unique job profile; if it doesn't work, we will move on to Canada.
