I called there office but no clue what SKIL bill is about (Washington DC).

We are privy to some information and we were told that Sen. Cornyn might introduce this to the senate today. When we say might, it means that there is a good chance he may not do so too!
And introducing just means that he will get a number assigned to it. It will NOT be debated today. The debate timeframe is decided by the majority and minority leaders Frist and Reid respectively.
We just wanted to share with you what we learned. When we learn more, we will let you guys know. For right now, all we know is in the first post.
And FYI, there are some decent provisions in this bill especially related to STEM. Also presents a solution to retrogression wherein Adjustment of Status would be possible in spite of no visa being available.

I think EB3 India will move to Dec 2004 by end of this year. (crossing my finger and praying hope this will come true)
By the end of this year If they haven't made any significant movement in EB3 India We should seriously look into filling a lawsuit for country discrimination. Seriously I'm surprised no one is looking into filling a lawsuit for this endless country based discrimination.
I can't think of any other solution for this mess. Watching the house hearing made me sick they can't even differentiate GC visa and H1B visa.

Tell me one thing - Why do you expect IV core to spoonfeed everything to you and your friends. If you and your friends are raring to go and do something for the retrogressed community, why not come forward with ideas and show some efforts, instead of just harping on a forum with a bundle of dollars in your hand! Remember, IV is made up of you and me, and it's you and me who can make all the difference. It's very easy to sit on the sidelines and talk. And one more thing - "Have a positive attitude" about everything (life, IV, GC etc) and you will notice how much your point of view will change for better.
The best advice I have for you is to join your state chapter because IV does lot of its planning and strategy implementation behind the scenes. That way you will know more about IV's current and future plans, and will be able to contribute in a positive manner.

Let me send him a power point presentation and Microsoft Projects file about the "project plan" which he wants to see.

Yes the core problem is visa numbers. We have been fooled to believe for few days we all are safe and GC retrogression is over without even realizing someone was taking us for nice roller coaster ride.
When DOS doesnt have a Immigrant Visa available , its just not available.
DOS made it effective 2nd ,

Processing application based on Priority dates which is applicable to Any Employement (EB1, EB2, EB3) or Even family categories, with respect to Quota for that catagories..
Again as Somebody mentioned Earlier, its not going to get solved in 2-3 Months, So this will be helpful only from Futuristic purpose.
Its Vision problem, But this can't be solved by Lawsuites, It needs discussions, Negotiations and Communication, By Who have access to USCIS representative. In a Nutshell IV or AILA Kind of group, need to bring on their agenda, if they think its in Best interest for everybody.
Simply put i am used to standing in queue to Buy Coffe, and somebody gets priority I feel i've been bypassed.

It will tell you how powerful lawsuits are in this country if you think you have been fooled over and over on false promises. This is especially true in the case of People whose priority date was current for a long time but still they were made to wait because of unknown reasons by USCIS while the folks who had priority dates as recent as 2006 walked with Green Cards. People especially who fall under this category are sure to succeed only by filing lawsuits. I dont see any other way out here.

When is the next congress session? is it in Nov/Dec (the so called lame-duck session). I am wondering about chances of having some immigration measures during that session. Being a lame-duck session, do congressmen can take up a serious measure like immigration for discussion (either CIR or SKIL)? If not - is it possible to introduce some highly desirable stop-gap measures like: ability to apply for 485 during retrogession; recapturing the unused visa numbers from previous years with soft country limits (as is done a few years back); and faster backlog reduction at BEC�s. In short I am wondering about our strategy for next 4-5 months; and is there a hope - however small it maybe � hope of getting something done this year; Or our only hope is with next congress?
Talking about next congress - I was wondering about what is the best outcome for us during elections? Does democrats getting majority in both houses is better for us or is it other way? Or a combo is best for us (democrat majority in house with republican majority in senate).

And who is hurting because of this? Is it not you? And me? and our families? Whose fault is it that we refuse to actively participated in the effort that wants us to lead a stable life.
You see, most people here work in IT. So we have binary logic. 0 & 1. There is no in between. So most people in this community of educated illiterates wants the world to be perfectly aligned before we lift a finger. Lets wait for few more years for GC before we contribute my hard earned $20 after bickering for 10 years, way to go.

I understand some of your concerns of giving personal information, but just think about it, all you are giving is your Email Address and Phone number. You are not giving away Credit card, SSN and Bank Account numbers. Just think about it, Dont you guys already get junk emails and marketing calls. Are you guys not getting mails about Credit Card offers, Macys and Others. So Dont think too much guys. You always have the option of changing the phone number if things get worse. But I dont think that is gonna happen since most of our information are already out there. We will try to work out something with the Admins here to see if we can get a secured page. If not, let one of us take a responsibility of collecting personal information and host a webpage, I know, atleast , one of us can do it.

Guys, Lawyer fees is not an issue, if we get more people in to this. 100 $ ain't too much when you think , you are spending 1000 $ on EAD and AP year after year. Let us shake the USCIS by taking some courageous step. Again, we are not here crossing borders, they invited us here. Every one of us deserve justice and respect. They cant treat us like slaves. They gotto keep up to their promises or else we will demand it.

Let us keep them aware of what we are trying to achieve. Yes, Iam talking about the list of forture 500 Companies and IT giants, who were trying to push for an increase in H1B quota. Companies that are demading for a better Immigarion system and faster green cards. I know, we already have a thread that has a link to the letter that is signed by all big companies in favor of increasing High-Skilled immigrants. Let us make them hear. Let us, all 70 K folks here, send individual letters to every body who,we think, will support us and then to send it to those, who already knows everything about their inefficiencies,but still falling deaf, on our earlier outcry. Let us prove that, we dont just sit out there crying. Let us show them who we really are. Stand for our Self-Respect guys.

I had started the thread a while back and I am glad to tell that I finally got my FP notice and completed the FP process.
I had opened a SR on Nov 5th after filing I-485 in July (receipt date Jul 23rd). I got a standard notice in Dec first week indicating that they shall schedule a FP notice when there is an opening available at ASC ( I guess a standard reply from what I have read in the posts). I then took an info pass on Dec 8th and it was also a seemingly non fruitful visit.
Finally on Jan 2nd I got a voice mail at work from attorney (dated Dec 26th) that my FP appt was on Dec 27th. I never got any notice to this effect till Jan 2nd in mail. Hence the attorney sent me his copy by FedEx and I drove the very next day (Jan 4th) to the ASC in Oakland, CA. I explained the situation and they were kind enough to schedule me the same day. The process was pretty straightforward, and was completed in about 10-15 minutes.
My spouse on the other hand did get her notice in mail and her FP appt is on Jan 11th.....
So am not sure what worked....the call to CS, taking an infopass, or just plan praying :)
